you are sick with missing and shaking.

watch your mother move from room to room
like a tired old dog, like a broken arm.
watch her shake in the kitchenette,
do not shake with her.
press you fingers to the hollow of your throat, hard.
reach for your vocal chords, but to not
touch them. do not breathe.
sleep on the knives of your bones.
let the bed bugs bite.
let the bed bugs nest in your tangles.
